|World record for whale shark breeding continues to be set
Since March 1995, the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has held the world's longest breeding record for whale sharks and continues to set new records.
By keeping whale sharks for a long time and understanding the ecology of whale sharks, the museum will meet the challenge of unlocking the mystery of whale sharks, which is the first of its kind in the world.
|Manta rays swimming naturally in the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the first place in the world to successfully breed the largest stingray species, the manta ray, in captivity.
With a huge tank and a system that constantly supplies fresh seawater, it creates an excellent environment for breeding and allows you to see the beautiful stingrays up close.
|Large-scale coral farming to recreate the beautiful Okinawa Sea
The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium uses an open system to bring fresh seawater into the tank and then return it to the ocean.
The "Sea of Coral" tank has an open roof, which directly receives natural sunlight, and a 300m³ large tank to display the colorful coral colony.
Almost all the corals in the tank have been growing for more than 10 years.
The fish, which originally inhabited the corals, are excitedly moving among the reefs, and the algae and anemones, which affect the growth of corals, are suppressed.
Here you can see all kinds of beautiful corals that are created in a natural way.
